Working areas where healthy and a symptomatic individual has passed through and spent minimal time, such as corridors, but which are not visibly contaminated will be fumigated thoroughly as normal.

All surfaces other surfaces including office desks, laboratory surfaces, work stations, doors, windows, office chairs, cabinets, and adjacent structures/ objects will be fumigated, sanitized and disinfected, including:

  • objects which are visibly contaminated
  • all potentially contaminated high-contact areas such as bathrooms, door handles, telephones, grab-rails in corridors and stairwells.

The use of disposable cloths or paper roll and disposable mop heads, to clean all hard surfaces, floors, chairs, door handles and sanitary fittings will be observed, following one of the options below:

  • use of either a combined Chemicals and detergent disinfectant solution at a dilution of 1,000 parts per million available chlorine

OR

  • office detergent followed by sanitization disinfection (1000 ppm av.cl.). We do have standardized procedure for dilution, application and contact times for all chemicals and disinfectants.

OR

  • if an alternative chemical and disinfectant is used within your organisation, this shall be checked and ensure that it is effective against enveloped viruses

We’ll avoid creating splashes and spray when fumigating.

Any cloths and mop heads used during disinfection will be disposed of and shall be put into waste bags as outlined below.

When items cannot be cleaned using detergents or laundered, for example, upholstered furniture and mattresses, steam cleaning shall be advised.
